Project Goals
With the passing of my grandmother, I found myself drawn to and immersing myself in the study of the mysticism of Ancient Egypt, in particular their views of death and the afterlife. As I painted, I considered the body, its death, its rebirth, and the unknown state between. "Pouring Water for Your Ka" is a translation of an Ancient Egyptian phrase which refers to a belief that, so long as their family continued to leave offerings and remembrances for their beloved dead, their soul, thei ka, would never die. For my Grandmother: live forever.
